As a high school journalist this past year i've been heavily involved in sports writing and video production. Throughout this journalism journey, I have grown tremendously, picking up many skills valuable to growing industries such as video editing, telling stories and networking with other people.

One thing I love to do with journalism is to incorporate my interests into my work. One hobby i've I love to do is photography (link to my photography gallery here), allowing me to apply my skills to capture high action sport photos for my articles on school games. Through applying both my photography and writing skills, I was able to place second in the California Press Women 2024 High School Communications Contest in the sports category.

 

In addition to using my camera skills for sports photography in my articles, i've also utilized them to produce videos for the Carlmont student video press, Scotscenter News. Through these videos I try to create a more immersive experience for my audience, focusing on not only telling them the story but displaying them as well.
